Event Description

Well Being Retreat Center is offering another of its (almost) monthly Weekend Retreats from Friday supper (April 7th) through Sunday lunch (April 9th). There is no charge for this event although your tax-deductible donations are gratefully accepted.

The theme for the weekend is "Navigating Misconceptions About Awakening." There are many misconceptions about enlightenment floating around spiritual circles. It is represented as being distant, other-worldly, rare, special, religious, immobilizing, a personal achievement, eternal bliss.....whatever. Some are partially true; most not even that. Until we've recognized our fundamental beingness for ourselves, we simply can't know what it is. We can have beliefs about it, hopes for it, and elaborate concepts that imagine are true. But acknowledging that we don't really know happens to be an excellent place to begin. This weekend will help jettison beliefs about enlightment and point towards the awakeness that is already fully present in you.

This Navigating Misconceptions About Awakening Retreat will explore the very real possibility that worthiness and unworthiness are just two sides of the same coin and that neither is prerequisite for awakening. Seeing though the illusion of unworthiness frees up our energy and allows us to enjoy life more fully.

This retreat is a nondenominational opportunity to explore one’s own true nature. The weekend will include silent sittings in the serenity of our meeting room or down by the river, structured sharing and a guided inquiry talk by Don Oakley on Saturday morning entitled “Navigating Misconceptions about Awakening“. All activities during the weekend are voluntary, of course, and all inquiry will be experientially grounded.

During the weekend there will be opportunities for quiet walks around our 160 acre property, sitting by the scenic Powell River which surrounds the property for 2 1/2 miles, for exploration of Nature, or simply to rest. You will be staying in one of the comfortable cabins with single bedroom occupancy to the extent possible.

To reserve a spot on this retreat or for more information please go here or contact Patty at 423-626-9000 or Patty@WellBeingCC.org by Sunday April 2nd.
